Thanks,
Randy,
You have a couple options. You could try cleaning the existing core but if I was going to remove the tanks I would just have a new core installed. We use to sell the correct replacement cores but we no longer do. The company that made them for us is Heatex in Roseville Michigan. You can still call them and order one (800) 822-2688
I believe the correct replacement cores cost about $350 and you might may more than that having a shop restore your radiator. So this route might cost $700-$800.
Another option is to just buy a brand new reproduction

The last option, and the one I would go with, is replace it with an aluminum radiator with the Black Ice coating. No, this isn't going to pass judging but it will cool better than any other option.
I would opt for the fatter tubes (1.25") since this was the smallest C/B core (22.5) GM ever used in a Corvette. This would be the 1149066M Model: 1249066M (Black/Man/HPseries) $719.99

This image says 1139066M but the 1149066M looks the same

I get that...most people with old engines just do not want to deal with anything. It is kinda like a badge of honor that they keep it running and no major work has been done to it. The reason I can write that is because I have a customer or two yearly that when an oil leak or coolant leak is found...they prefer to 'live with it' because they feel they can 'give it a few more years' and then do it. It is their choice...but they are only putting of the inevitable.

I WISH I had a photos of many of the aluminum intakes I have removed that were so badly pitted on the water jacket ports of the intake that is would shock you. I have had some doozies.

And this problem is due to lack of maintenance or not paying attention to the coolant quality and system integrity. And this area will leak regardless if a block cleaner is used or not. And often times the CRUD that I see in the heads when the intake is lifted off and NO block cleaner had been used...would make you gag.

To each his/her own.
