Restore Vette damaged
This has to hurt. I hope the insurance was up to date.

a "shifter adjustment"... yeh, right.... I reckon he was looking down and not paying any attention to traffic and rear-ended someone...

Can't see the rest of the right side, but it looks like the back was damaged too and the way the front headlight is sticking up and to the left might be consistent with a side impact. Either way, what a shame

According to the article, that's not what happened at all. Somebody changed lanes into him. Look closely and you can see damage on the right rear, which would not be there if he rear ended someone.

I can just as easily visualize someone changing lanes into his path and him sideswiping the car...
dunno... it's the 'checking the shifter adjustment' that is damning...

This is a case for diminished value insurance. It's not easy to collect on diminished value but it's been done.
Maybe Adam at NCM can help us with this. In the meantime you might want to check with your broker to see if you're covered for diminished value.
"The very first thing the insurance company will ask for is an appraisal of the car’s value prior to the incident and a second appraisal after the repairs have been completed. If you don’t have a pre event appraisal then the discussion will generally stop right there."
