Don't take things wrong...you have to have a bit of a thick skin on the forum...
Some make assumptions that may not apply.
I looked for 2-1/2 years for a split window coupe and looked at so much roached out, mis-matched, beat-up junk at dealers in Florida and online that I finally grew disheartened and gave up. Out of the blue a forum member offered up one of his for sale. Its a wonderful car that I paid a fair price for. It turned out to be a bargain as prices went straight up on these cars for the next year...

Youll know when you get the right one at the right price youre no stranger to this.
I dont see whats wrong with not wanting to overpay especially in these times.
These cars can be difficult to purchase, I looked @ 6 cars between 28k & 42k this summer all had more work needed than I wanted to do. Most had been in a crash & not repaired properly. I got this one for 39,500
not match # but close. Restored 30 years ago but needed everything updated. Spent 2k updating all work in my garage.

I think it is rude to question my honor and motivations. I did communicate with Mattsba and explained to him I recently moved from Gold Canyon to Fountain Hills, AZ. The move was very expensive and I had to spend lots of cash in moving and in some updates for the new house. I explained that I still have the Viper funds saved for the new Vette and would have more funds free up in a few months. Till then, if I want to find a car with the funds I have available to me, why is it anyone's business what I want to spend on a luxury item I do not need but want to have. Troll someone else Deejaydudu and leave me alone.
Brenda I am only commenting on your own words in your own threads. Everyone on this forum have reasons why they buy and why they pass on certain cars. You are no exception. Money comes and money goes and so do these cars. Everyone wants a deal and a high end car to boot. You started this thread by stating exactly that on the 63 that your friend bought. So you would like to duplicate his good fortune. So would many others here and in other places but the reality is that those deals are the exceptions and not the norm. If you think that my opinion has interfered in your thread please contact a moderator and let them decide. You have actually violated Forum rules with your name calling. Heed Frankie's advice and get some thick skin so that you can hang here without getting offended. Sorry I am so late replying as I just got back to the computer.

Wow, thanks guys! Just too many great deals to not make your Spidey Senses to kick in. I will not give up, no way. My new house has a 4 car garage and currently has an empty space, for me, that's a crime to have a empty garage space. Last night got me back to looking after the move but I will not expect too much too fast. And like I posted earlier, funds will be much improved early next year. I have had 4 Corvettes and each time I sell one I say to myself I finally got that out of my system, and as sure as the sun coming up, a year or so later I am looking at the classifieds again. I guess Corvettes just get in your DNA and you might as well just accept it LOL
Ah c'mon Frank, fully restored '62 fuelie for $27.7K? How can that be a scam?
Paul
These shysters are a bit cleverer than the garden variety. The prices aren't so low as to be totally ridiculous.
Just low enough to be titillating and generate some interest by somebody with "Corvette fever" who just may think they've found that naive seller with a great car for cheap. NOT.
I'll throw my two cents in here. I'm a C1 owner but I think it still applies. My dream car was a 59 and I would have been ok with a 58 or a 60, I just knew I wanted a soft top and a manual transmission. Numbers matching was my preference as well. Similar to you there... As a teen in the 90s the cars were too expensive for me but I waited. In the army I could finally afford those 90s prices but the cars were even more. After then I got to graduate school and a nice driver was around $35k, too much for a grad student. I finally graduated and found a job, I could afford $35k but now they were even more. I always looked online. After 20years I finally gave up and realized it wouldn't happen. My wife said to be patient and it will happen but I was too down at that point to believe her. A few months later I met a neighbor down the street that told me about a pair of 59s his family had and were selling. Next thing I knew I was the owner of a numbers matching 59 with a soft top and a 4 speed and a new paint job for $35k. I realized then anything can happen. My wife was right (smart lady). I guess moral of the story is if you know what you want and what you're flexible on and wait you will find that deal. I would have loved an inca silver car but I like the frost blue I got, an easy concession.
If you want a nice c2 and are patient it will happen
