Off Topic does have a LOT of BS, attention ******, and downright juvenile posts. And they tend to be merciless if you don't have a thick skin or if you show any sign of being butt-hurt.
BUT - there is a wealth of knowledge among that group and I have gotten an incredible amount of good advice. Plumbing, electrical, general home repair, auto trouble-shooting, firearms, appliance questions, pets, legal, medical, food-related, you name it.
If you ask something on there you will likely get good info and perhaps with a few sarcastic posts. Ignore the trolls, don't take the bait, and you'll do fine.

Now PR&C - I stay away from that place!
Yep, I agree w/all of what Railroadman said. It can be amusing over there in OT and a spectacular variety of subjects, most of which are entertaining. Don't post though, unless you have a thick skin. I've wondered too, do some of those guys (and I think its 99.9999% guys) have a life?
What I like to do is fix things the right way ,I often comment on repair and getting things done correctly ,
I has helped me a lot even doing it twice or maybe 3 times till its right.
Also like the talk on current prices and opinions .
Its hard sometimes not getting pulled in to a conflict .
Still a nice place to visit.
I don't know exactly how it works, but in some manner it helps the outfit which owns/runs the forum to have a high viewership and high post count. OT and PR&C have a LOT of traffic, so in a way it helps keep the site going for those who DO want to talk Corvettes.

It's pretty simple. For every view (or post), CF gets money for the ads shown off on the right margin. The more views, the more money..
So yes, OT probably pays the bills for the rest of us! Go getem!
I have to admit trolling over there once in awhile and even stirring the pot occasionally
As I like to say..... It's all Christopher Columbus fault, for he figured the earth wasn't flat. If it was the lunatic ultra righties and lefties would have fallen off, we would have met in the middle and gotten something done !

Yesterday's inauguration aside, the only time I go to PR&C is when a thread from OT gets moved over to there and I follow up. But it can be entertaining. Problem is, I have other interests in life besides arguing with strangers all day long. I've even cut back my Off Topic time, altho not entirely.
Some very educational stuff in Off Topic actually. Before and after pics from a guy who bought, rented out and flipped a house, with discussion of what work he did to rehab it. Question on where to find .22 short ammo. Threads of "show us your dog" (or cat, or boat, or garage, etc) are common. At one time we were planning a new house build and I asked for drainage and foundation advice. Got some excellent advice from guys who had gone through it.
By looking at the thread title and the name of who started the thread, I can eliminate about 9 out of 10 threads as not worth my click. So OT to me, is worth a look. PR&C? I'd rather do something else.
