I know this is folly, but the 63 driver I'm making might actually get caught in the rain. I'm wondering if there's is a weather strip for the top of the convertible windshield that does anything, whatsoever. Is there a best of the worst? Its my understanding that the original functions much better than any repro, so I'm also wondering where I can get one of those?
Your best friend is a piece of extra wide, blue quick release 3M painter's tape...applied BEFORE the rain starts.... Without a center latch (which some here have added) enough wind and driving rain are coming over that header no matter what...
Other than that Corvette Rubber is prob the best alternative, buying a 53 year old piece of original rubber just might be worse than what you have.

Can't see driving my car to California with blue tape all over it...(though silver duct tape might not be too obvious on this car)
The car already has so many mods that adding another latch is not sacrilege. I'll have to look into adding one.
Thanks,
Mike

I think it's more than a coincidence that most boats and the Corvette have fiberglass bodies. Just saying.
Actually, in hindsight after my tongue-in-cheek post, I'm not sure that makes sense - unless a Corvette will float like a Volkswagen. Anyone have any experience in that?

A little off topic. It finally dawned on me how the speaker grille may have gotten rusty if water trickled down the mirror! All original everything - trim and interior/exterior and garaged its whole life. I've never driven in the rain so wouldn't know where the water lands. Probably more on the console?

The water does not discriminate, it goes everywhere...

Search for posts by JackFit on here...he came up with the center latch; I've seen it in person and even operated it. He has used all around the US and Europe....

Well, having actually owned and operated a C2 convertible for 45+ years now I'm going to say that the OPs headline "water proofing a C2" is an impossible task - at least for the convertibles. when at speed in a heavy rainstorm.
I've tried it all, and if it doesn't leak in one place it comes in another. You can reduce the problem, but I don't know of anyone who can tell you they've eliminated it.
The hard top is better than the convertible top in that regard - but living here in Northern California it hasn't been on the car in 15 years or so.
When it rains hard I drive a different car.............

Yeah, I had lots of C2 convertibles, but haven't really tried to drive one much in the rain for many years. I'm just trying to keep it down to something other than a deluge inside, if I should run into a storm on a long trip. I'd probably stop ASAP, but with these cars, it doesn't take long to take on a lot of water, which is hard to get rid of on a trip. The more reduction, the better, but anything is an improvement...
I don't have the center latch, but I do carry a roll of duct tape in my top color on most of my verts..my current 65 is actually very dry in the rain, but I added a 2nd w/strip on the front. I used a piece of trunk weatherstrip from a 64-72 chevelle or 67 up camaro. has worked pretty decent, even in heavy rain.
