I have a 1963 vert. I need to order a removable aftermarket tubular crossmember due to the now installed 4l60e automatic and exhaust fitment, the transmission is a lot wider and exhaust fitment through the oem crossmember looks tight. I have seen bowtie overdrives sells one for 68-79 corvette. I read a lot about the c2 frames are similar to c3 frames. Does any have any experience with these fitting?
Thanks
They do fit and I have seen one recently on this forum...can't remember the exact thread...someone had either a 63 or 4 that had the 68 and up removable crossmember. To install that one I am pretty sure the body has to come off.
However, there are ways to make your existing crossmember removable without removing the body. There are some good threads on here with pics on how guys have fab'd these up. I had one done on my 67 to make the 5 speed easier to remove. Funny thing is, I sold the car and never got to test it out.
