Default Placement Reference Data 66 badges

After researching this forum, I'm astounded by the amount of detail available here. You guys rock. Ive had many questions in the past couple years that were answered quickly just by a bit of searching.

But alas, I have another question that I cant find the answer to......

I bought a 66 coupe a while back, nice rolling stock but nothing that matches. Its a cute driver that came with a new interior, nice paint, cobbled together engine along with a smile n fond farewell from the previous owner. He seemed very ....'relieved'?

Anyway since its a black car it can use any help available in the looks department, so I want to add the two front side badges and the hood badge. All are available thru catalog/web sales but I don't see in any of the shop or assy manual any the measuring or dimensional data required to properly install those. Would someone point that out or give me some installation directions? Hints n tips are always of interest.

Thanx

Hi Curt,

The side emblems are in the 66 AIM, UPC 11-13 sheet A1.

The hood emblem is on UPC1 ASM, sheet F1, but there are no dimensions.

On my 66 the hood emblem is 1 5/8" from the front edge of the hood, and the right edge of the cross line of the "T" is 2 1/8" from the edge of the hood.

Welcome to the CF! If you look very carefully you might see the faint depressions at the nose and on the side of the fenders. I don't have dimension, but here is the trick tip on securing them. Since it can be difficult to get the side speed nuts on, use a tiny piece of blue painters tape on the post. It will secure the flag. Same for the nose. Then when you wax, just pop them off, wax, retake and install. Dennis

Curt, what side emblems do you mean? Small block or big block? If BB, I can send you where the holes go from my L72. I'm not home until Mar 20 (still snowbirding) but if you're not in a rush, I can send you hole placement for the hood badge too as mine all all off the car in prep for new paint. Bill

Hey Bill
Eckler calls them Side Fender Emblems. Crossed flags with a chrome V supporting them. No rush, hoods off for some spiffing up. Id like to compare your data with the book data that was mentioned above.
If youre snowbirding in the Phx area let me know. You can come by.

Thx Again
Curt

Nope ... FL. You're too far! Send me a PM on the 20th to remind me to send you the hood hole measurements for the script. Bill
