Loved the 62s when I was a freshman in high school, couldn't afford it with an income of $1 / yard mowing.
In 76, a friend had a 63 SWC that I wanted, but he traded it in (didn't call me) for a used Cadillac when his new bride complained about getting her feet wet when it rained on the way to a formal dance. (Don't know if they are still married, but can't imagine one reason why they should be).
Racing, kids, and life dominated the budget for the next half a century plus or minus.
R66 came from a local Estate Auction. I quit bidding and she decided she wanted us to have it and kept on bidding.
We are both older than the car, but it fits in with the re-runs of Gunsmoke, Mash, Johnny Carson, etc., over the OTA tv.

I'm the same age as my 1958, well not exactly. I was born in August and my car in Janurary.
When I turned 50 I bought a matching 2008 so had two Vettes 50 years apart.
I have since sold the '08 for a black '16, but I sold it to a friend of mine so the car is still around.

I'm 10 years older than my '65, but it's not really a fair comparison. I totally rebuilt the car in the last few years, replacing the chassis, drivetrain, etc. with modern technology and parts.
I'd love to be able to do the same thing to me, but I can't find a doctor willing to do the rebuild.....

I'm also older than any Corvette ever made. I was going on 22 (born in 1945) when my '67 rolled off the assembly line. 1967 was also the year I was drafted.
