my door hits the latch when i close it, seems like it should be raised up a little, any hits on doing this before i screw something up ??
Striker adjustment is covered in the shop manual. Put blue tape or mark the current latch position with a sharpee pen in case you need to move it back first.

You can adjust the striker to make it close easily and eliminate your interference but that may not fix the underlying cause.
Sometimes, the hinge rivets come loose inside the door and allow it to sag. You can check this by opening the door in question and lifting up/down on the door to check for movement. It shouldn't move and if it does, note where the movement is.
If that's your problem, it can be fixed. I think someone here has done a write up on the repair.
The driver door on my coupe has had loose rivets in the hinges since I've owned it in 1972. I'm too lazy to fix it. I just raise up on the door a little when I shut it and it shuts good and fits good in the closed position.
