Wow, you are a perfectionist and it shows, well done. AND, the rest of the fleet are really cool as well.....love the Olds ragtop. Any time you want to post a few pics of the rest of that group I'm sure we'd all appreciate it.
You neighbors must wonder about you over there. I can't imagine pulling out on the road with that OIds behemoth! People must look at it like it's a space ship!

Sander, exceptional example of how it should be done. Although its my hobby, your build has once again lifted my bar of quality and craftsmanship in my work. One of my best friends here in the Dallas area performs the same type of HIGH quality craftsmanship, Jack Laswell. He started his career with Roles Royce and now he's a nationally Buick GN Guru and total custom builder here in Dallas. Through out the years he has taught me a great deal and when I get stuck I make an appointment and bring my ride over along with my list of "honey do's". My Picasso, a one of a kind 64 Oldsmobile F-85 Pro-touring ride. Again very nice Sander....Robski

the Caddy you are referring to is actually a 1959 Olds
Well this was the last project i have done before i started with the 56
actually its the first Us 50s car i bought back in 2000 locally (the Coupe)
didnt do much to the car as it was a decent car, then found my 60 corvette and restored that car then got my 63 coupe same story...
then somewhere in 2007 i found the 1959 olds convetible online
somewhere in SC bought it for the Convertible stuff
then cut up the rest for scrap
i used the chassis engine, transmission and windshield frame and inner quarters and used the rest of the convertible specific sheet metal as template and reproduced the pieces.
first started to convert the body and did a lot of sheet metal the pushed the car in the corner then did a few other cars in between.
then 2 years ago pulled it out of the corner again to finally finish the car.
oh and my Buddy Marc used the left overs for his soapbox

UNBELIEVABLE restoration quality on these cars. Perhaps the nicest '56 'Vette on the planet. Very well done, and absolutely superb craftsmanship. I am awestruck. Well done.

after a full cycle down en then halfway up cycle the 40 amp circuit breaker shuts down and the pump gets hot
got good ground and power to the pump
maybe the pump motor is bad

Thanks for the Olds pics Sander.......great stuff. I should have recognized that black beauty but I only caught a glimpse of it's roofline and fins. My Mom had a hardtop 59 way back when. I've had two 60 olds ragtops.....great cars.
Question about the swap. Does the convertible have an x-braced frame similar to my 56 Chevy rag? Did you swap over the frame too? Man.....that ragtop body was toast!
My nephew runs a website called Outright Oldsmobile, an info site he put together a few years ago.

all 59 olds had the same chassis with the x brace frame , only difference on the ragtop there are 2 extra brackets on the chassis near the A pillar

I rebuild many PT units over the last 50 years and your problem when the top stops working going up or down , it's the switch you pull under the dash ,When you open it you see thin FLAT copper plates that will warp when getting hot breaking contact That's your problem not the motor , it's just the animal of the unit that you have to put up with .Once the switch cools it will again work the top assy
