In Florida, I saw an ad for a 63 Coupe in excellent condition for $16,000. No telephone # was listed, just an e-mail address. I sent this person an e-mail asking about the car, and if the price was a mistake.
This was about a month ago, and never got a reply. Yesterday I got this e-mail from a women selling her dead husband's Corvette.
"I'm so very sorry it's taken me this long to write back to you but my beloved husband passed away and I was devastated. I'm not over it but I want to sell the 63 Corvette and make someone happy as we were when we bought it. I feel that someone else could get more enjoyment and better use out of it based on where I am in my life. I've spent a few days with my sister in Florida, she was trying to help me recover but I had to return to NY and that's where the car is located. I'm asking $16,700.00 for the Corvette, it has a clear and free New York title. This is a matching numbers 1963 Corvette Split Window Coupe powered by a 327ci/340 horsepower and a manual 4 speed transmission. There is no rust on the car and it was never in an accident or flooded. The paint looks very nice and the car has a straight body. The interior is all original and in good condition, all the gauges work. This Corvette has 77,132 original miles, starts, runs, drives and brakes perfect. Car had 3 owners, the first owner, bought the car in 1963 in Wisconsin, my cousin, from Kentucky bought the Corvette in 1985. In 2012 I decided to purchased the car for my husband as a gift for his 60th Birthday but I only had $16,700 to spend on a car. My cousin made us so happy and sold the car to us for only $16,700. Now, the right thing to do is sell the car for the same amount we bought it and bring happiness to someone else "Happiness is perfume, you can’t pour it on somebody else without getting a few drops on yourself" and that's what I need right now! I offer free shipping for the first 400 miles, send me your zip code and let me see If I can ship it for free. I uploaded more pictures here: Picture of VIN#, cowl tag, engine code number, receipts, service records, and odometer will be sent to serious buyers."
I removed all personal info, and link to pictures, which I was afraid to open! Once again, she didn't include a phone number!
99.9% of the time when the seller and the car are in different states its a scam.
That sets you up for the ploy that the person has difficulty arranging an inspection and posting detailed pictures. If you'll just send this lady (who most prob had an Adam's apple) a few thou she'll get you sorted out....prob a direct bank wire I'm betting...
Another clue, anybody that has the level of detailed knowledge expressed in that ad knows damn well that car is worth many times the selling price quoted...
I don't recommend screwing around with scammers cuz they'll market your info. Some members think they're geniuses and insist on it. If you're one of those tell her you'll give her $25K cash if you can inspect the car within 48 hours (but I wouldn't do it)...

A fool and his money are soon parted, and 'you can't cheat an honest man'. Both very, very true. You aren't serious about wondering if this is a scam, are you?
I can't believe that there are still people who fall for this stuff, and send an email to boot!!! You probably have some sort virus crap in your computer now, and it has been sent to everyone in your mailbox. Geesh.
We've had a change of plans here at out house. I'm thinking of selling my 1962 Corvette for $726.49. Please send me a $50 deposit via Western Union and I'll happily arrange shipping.
The Nigerian scammers are hard at work. Hey, they've got to earn a living, too:
Here's the picture that was sent to me on a similar 63 split window. Obviously, he's top notch, possibly even a prince of sorts. His country only accepts Western Union so I'm still waiting, but since he sent a picture, I feel safe. He's probably just busy running a country.
