HEI recommendations

looking at switching distributor to an HEI unit, anyone offer any suggestions as to which brand to use? thanks

Isnt MSD your only option for a tach drive HEI?

EBAY has tons of GM HEI knockoffs with tach drives but I wouldn't trust them. I bought my '64 in 2009 with an MSD set-up the previous owner installed and so far it's never let me down.

I got this from Zip.... Looks and drives fine, but have only driven a few miles with it on the new ZZ502 engine in my '67.

thanks, I'd like to stay with the small cap style. from looking on-line there are several brands out there. priced from $150 to $550 range, just looking for suggestions on a complete set-up that includes everything. thanks.

This is the one I used recently on my GMPP crate motor swap. I love it as it fits under ignition shielding and performs perfectly.

All Ignition sells a tach drive HEI for around $120. I've had one in the '62 for about 6 years - works great not a single problem

Thank you GCD1962, glad to hear it. Our HEI's are a very reliable solution. We also now offer a small cap option that fits under the shield which is another great option over the factory ignition or HEI.
