If it sold for $418,000 the consignor didn't get that amount of money. $418,000 translates to a winning high bid of $380,000. From that the seller pays a 10% commission (unless he has a deal with Mecum). So he nets $342,000 for a loss of nearly 50%.

It all pretty crazy when you lay out the numbers. Hopefully the new owner will drive the damn thing (but probably not).

No need to shed too many tears for this seller. He offered up dozens of his collector cars at Kissimmee.
His 2017 Ford GT netted about 1 million and got crazy prices for most of his other cars. Here's part of what he sold:

From the Jackie & Gary Runyon Collection at Kissimmee 2022 (mecum.com)

The only constant in this car flipping game is that Mecum makes money coming and going........

The seller could of put a Reserve on the Corvette and brought it back home ,but there was a No reserve put on for a quick sell and maybe only a few bidders some one stole it for $418k

I believe the sellers premium is 6% for 'No Reserve" cars. Also, with the numbers of high end cars that Runyon ran thru the auction at No Reserve, I have to think a better deal was negotiated.

Correct, I failed to consider the no reserve factor, and I'm sure he had a deal with Mecom.

It pained me to see that odometer roll to every show, where the car was very well known. After 2 years, and 2,200 miles on it, I just had to sell it.
Not in the same category as a $400k+ vette.. but agree with above. I had a Nissan 370z that I got for 'a reliable weekender' when I wanted to go someplace with the top down, enjoy some performance, and not worry about if the wiper or lights would give out some time during the weekend.

To that end... never had much time to use it.. life's busy. After 6 or so years it still had less than 1500 miles on it. Then like above, I was more concerned about putting miles on it.. what if I went over 2000.. it is not as special any longer. Defeated the whole dang reason for getting the car !!!! Like above.. had to sell it... what.. another car hanging around that was meant to be driven but for some stupid reason we totally loose sight they are there to be driven.
