Default riveted rims

They look like standard 15x6 rally rims with 3.5 offset yet the rim is riveted together rather than welded. Any ideas as to their usage. Ric

I'll give you a guess "aftermarket", not GM.

I would definitely agree with you that they are not GM, Did any GM vehicle use a riveted rim, is there any advantage to riveting as compared to welding?

The 'FI' code is a riveted, Kelsey-Hayes Romulus plant, Chevrolet application wheel. Used on some '67 & later station wagons, I believe Chevelle Heavy Chevy (?), etc. Same offset and backspacing and lug pattern as small & large DC, YS, DG, etc. Works fine on disc brake midyear, all four corners.

I agree with the above post, the FI rims are correct in every way for a 67 or mid year Corvette, backspace is 3.5, offset is .060.

Other than the rivets vs. a welded rim the only way to tell them from originals is a quarter will not pass through the slots where as a original wheel has wider slots and the quarter will pass easily.

Default rims

I was going to use two of these rims on the rear of my 66 with hubcaps so there should be no problem with clearance. Thanks for the information all

Except it was not used on the 71-72 Chevelle Heavy Chevy's.

Heavy Chevy's came with a 6 hole, exposed lug nut, 14x7 rally wheel, with a tall, chrome plated, diecast center cap. It's the same rally wheel as was optional on 70-72 Camaro's, 71-72 Chevelle's & El Camino's and 71-72 Nova's, except when installed on Heavy Chevy's, they didn't get trim rings.

I think the "FI" wheel was only used on 67-70 full size Chevrolets.

These are riveted wheels that I removed from my 57. I believe they were ordered about 25 years ago when the car was restored and the wheels were still available from GM parts. One still has the part number tag on it as you can see in the picture.
