This is the axel on a midyear corvette Think abbot that when you take off really hard.
Those spindles you show are not what is on my 66. I used all Toms 30 spline parts along with his large half shafts. The factory parts are small when compared to these parts. Built correctly these IRS setups can hold power. The issue is that not many people know how to build them right.

Right you are Dave.
In addition to Tom's, Corvette International formerly International Axle makes high quality STOCK parts.

That's the problem. Spending money on drive line parts doesn't have the same flash as other go fast parts. Most times the biggest upgrades are engine related forgetting about everything else behind the engine. Then when a failure occurs you get the "Gee I wonder why that happened" routine. Or this IRS is a POS setup. It all comes down to the entire package working together.

I oftentimes mention that to my customers who want cars that can rip up pavement and when I mention the OTHER 'links in the chain'...some of them look at me like I am crazy.
I use the reference of 'battleship anchor chain'. If you use a BREAD TIE to join two of the links of a battleship chain together....what do you think is going to happen when you drop the anchor???
I tell them IF they do not consider upgrades...it is NOT going to be IF it fails badly...BUT WHEN it fails badly.
Not making this seem like it was OK....BUT.....I do LOVE that you had that much power to do that. QUITE IMPRESSIVE!!! I know they would HAVE to be hanging on the wall in my shop...without a doubt!
