I am jus about in the middle of a frame off for a 64 convertible.
The 2, # 4 frame brackets have enlarged, rusted, holes. This is the only real rust on the frame.
These are the last 2 brackets that are welded to the frame at the back of the car.
Long Island Corvette Supply has 2 numbers for the brackets while Zip has only 1 number for them.
I have the frame standing on it's side so I can't see the right side bracket.
Is there a difference ?
A lot of us have just cut out the rusted area around the body mount hole and welded in a repair patch. I used large washers that a machine shop reamed out the center hole to match the originals. Others have used a squared section and drilled/reamed out the mount hole. Do you have a welder or friends who weld?
Dan:
I think I read your answer a long time ago, so,
I already sanded 2 plated washers to fit inside the existing bracket.
Since I don't have a steel welder anymore, I'm going to have to bring it all
to a welder. I'm thinking he's going to want a lot more to weld the original brackets
on, so I might end up with the washers.
Thanks for your alternate. It will save me a bunch of money, I 'm sure.

Dom,
Plus, I think Dan's idea will make a nice repair and much easier than relocating brackets.
