Always watching for lower priced C2s as so many do. This 1 or this type of vette, with a seemingly parts car fate, intrigues me because I just can't understand why it would bid up this high. Is there value in buying a basket case and swapping cages? Obviously more than a few folks like it, so what are they seeing??
"people selling these aren't selling automobiles, they're selling dreams."
Although some get built, I think that's very true as a generality. The price reflects people who can stretch just so far and dream of making it a reality.
Making that car roadworthy- much less restored- is plainly beyond financial sense.
Another thing about these kind of cars, usually the high bidders, at least in this case so far, have 100% of their bids with the seller. That tells me that they are probably shill bidders for the seller. Then when know one out bids their buddy's bid, the car gets relisted with some kind of story about the high bidder was a flake or something. Or the highest "real" high bidder gets a second chance offer for a lower amount. As of now the real money appears to be about 8K for this fine unit. IMHO this is just a scam tring to find a fool who wants to part with his money.
