Default Antifreeze

Hi folks, I'm about to drain my radiator and was wondering what brand antifreeze do you use on your aluminum radiator. I have the stock L-79 motor, I drained it some time ago and forgot the actual brand I used. Just wondering what you guys recommend. I have DEX-COOL running in my Silverado, could I use that? Thanks, Gary

DO NOT USE DEX-COOL. just a 50/50 mix of green and distilled water

Like Nowhere Man says, don’t us Dexcool, it will leach the lead out of soldered joints (heater core). The green stuff, like Prestone is OK, but I strongly recommend Zerex G0-5 (yellow or amber), it’s an HOAT coolant, and has a more effective additive package for protection of aluminum radiators.

Default Xerox GO5???

Prior CF discussion led me to believe ZEREX GO5 antifreeze was the preferred one for aluminum radiators or is that just true for Dewitt's radiators??

It would be preferred for all aluminum radiators.

I use Zerex G-05 in my original L79 with Dewitt's radiator. 50/50 mix with distilled water.

The normal green stuff, mixed 50/50 with distilled water. I can't begin to count the catastrophic cooling system failures I've seen over the past 20 years caused by Dexcool. I wouldn't use it as weed killer.
