And by 'replacing the cable'....in my opinion......I would replace the ENTIRE UNIT ...meaning the housing with the new cable...and NOT just the cable itself.
I do not lube cables as general rule of thumb....because IF I do...and the problem comes back...then I am having to deal with it again.and doing this for a living..I do not have time to constantly deal with a pesky issue that I knwo if I put in a new cable assembly ONCE..I am done with it and it will not require any more of my time.
