I'm sure he is busy straightening out his daughters place and his own. Last report was that they were safe and little personal property damage for them.

Well what the hell does that mean about the last 3 Z28's that crossed the line with only the auctioneer saying "numbers matching?!? It's a joke.

McNeish probably makes good money making statements like that as does the seller. All taken in from gullible buyers that think they are getting something special.

He isn't the only one making money from this farce.

So, is the car hobby a hobby or is it a business to exploit unaware buyers of what is worth and what is BS?

I like matching numbers blocks re stamp or not at this point restoring to the ends for perfection .When it comes to Corvettes and valuable Chevy cars . Like I said before they only made so many date correct blocks with Corvette engines they are close to running out. They are certifying them .

The silence is deafening. Probably just a power outage, given the area involved. Hope his daughter and family are doing well.

Bloomington Gold will certify the build if you disclose its a re stamp
also its a matching numbers Corvette .

If its money your interested in yes you will get good money for them also its a part of the hobby now more so than in the early eighty's .

Seems like a lot of Corvettes are matching numbers today ,I have had my first 63 in 1992 and remember the market back then .

I was not aware of that. Good info to know for the masses. However I doubt that many people are that forthcoming. Most that have an undetectable (and yes it is easily done) stamping on a correct casting numbered, casting dated correct to the cars birthday engine, are expecting people to believe it is the "born with" engine in the car. After all, others can't DISPROVE it. This is why cars with ironclad documentation proving a car with the "born with" engine command a much higher asking price. Most people are more than satisfied with the correct restamped engine spelled out above and with good reason. It is in fact basically a correct reproduction item like many others on restored cars that are totally acceptable today. The people in the hobby are slowly becoming educated to all of this and it has always been my mission to help with that. It helps them to understand why there is such a big asking price difference with many seemingly the same cars. Because I speak of all of this does not necessarily mean I agree with what has and is taking place in the hobby for the last 40 years but it needs to be out there for people to know and make their own decisions about it in general. Knowledge is power.

A crowd started to surround these beautiful American Sports Cars and people were asking many questions. Now ,we all know 2 rich guys can't share the limelight at the same time , so after several minutes of attention one of them said "Yeah they are both nice cars but mine has matching numbers...."

And that's how the story began ......

Funny, I thought post 29 above was why they were "worth more". To some, anyway.

426 Hemi

For 1965: Round rivets through around VIN 7800. Rosette rivets after around VIN 11000. In-between those VIN a mix of rivet types.

Somewhere I've got a photo of one of those in-between VIN tags with one rosette and one round rivet.

Dave

If you see rosette rivets on an early 1965 tag, then at a minimum, you know that tag has been removed. Back on original car or a different car is a question.
