Redneck rotisserie
I need to work on the bottom of my 61. The body is off. I do not have a lift or access to a lift. Soooo. I'm thinking I could make a wood frame - 8 legs bolted to the 8 body mount locations in the cockpit and 2x4 braces. Then 2 each 2 foot square pieces of 3/4 plywood cut in a curve. I'd then roll the body on its side (the body would not touch the ground but would be suspended a few inches by the wood frame. Anybody see anything wrong with this? That is to say, will it work?

With the body already off, remove the drive line and replace or restore
everything while you have the opportunity.
With the drive line out it won't be hard to access everything without all the other hassle of a wooden jig.

I concur with that. The problem is not with the chassis. I need to work on the bottom of the body. I'm hoping for some encouragement or corrections to ensure I don't break the body

I lifted mine with four ratchet straps, two on the radiator support and two on the trunk lid hinges. Also, a 4x4 fits nicely through the rear wheal well in through the body and with eye bolts attached, it supports it well. I wouldn't leave it suspended for a long period.
Even with it just off the body it should be supported front and rear so it doesn't get out of shape. Best would be a wood frame that supports the front and rear, but don't know about turning it much more the 45 degrees even with that.

There are several on the forum that have made various fixtures to roll the body to work on it. CorvetteSander and American Dave are 2 I can think of. I will be flipping mine as well to do under body work but mine is stripped all the way down.

I should take a picture of my 2 4x4 A frame shaped supports that I put the 59 on to scrape the undercoating. They held the car up at about 60 degree angle, leaning over towards one side. Long before any body work was done and no worry of further damage. That was a month that I will never get back !!!

I'm getting ready to do my underbody as well. New body mounts and a clean and paint body color job. I'm using my rotisserie in an unconventional way. I wont be able to roll it over but I can easily get it 4 to 5 feet off the ground with complete unfettered access to the underside of the body. Maybe there is an idea for you here in how to support your body with what you already have. The rockers are factory steel reinforced and I put a 2x4 propping up both end for good measure, get something supporting those hangovers. Everything is stable and secure for my one man operation.

Has anyone done the redneck rotisserie on a C2 with the body supported? My coupe doesn't have the frontend attached so it would just be the coupe body and I planned on supporting the body with 3" tubing rails but need away to rotate it on its side without having to purchase a rotisserie.
