I joined this forum a while back to educate myself while doing restoration work on some customer's Corvettes. Even though I have a fair amount of experience with the C1, C2, C3 cars the past 40+ years, it has been a tremendous help to me to have this forum and these resources available.
Now I find myself in a position to acquire a Corvette of my own, and I have more questions before I make the leap.
I cannot find a source for values that compare the L79 327 to the standard 327. How substantial is the difference if applied to otherwise identical cars? The car in consideration is a '67 convertible with the L79 option.
Not expecting a car value based on the vague description, just hoping for a reasonable percentage or value to place on a complete, correct L79 above the standard 327.
Hagarty and a few of the Corvette Magazine Value Guides (from a few years ago) show a $3000 difference between the 300 HP and the 350 HP engine.....the 350 HP engine obviously being higher.
I think this is reasonable.
The difference between an original engine and a correct replacement engine is another matter. Originality is always much greater for most of our cars......especially if you are ever thinking about judging.
Another factor I'm well aware of is that rarity doesn't always equal desirability. We have to face the fact that color makes the first impression. How does Elkhart Blue rate as a favored color? Is it a plus or a minus in the scheme of available colors that year?
Thanks for any input on the two topics.

Probably a "neutral" for value. I like it, but others may not. Favorites for many owners are black, red, marina blue and lyndale blue.
That is one opinion only................

Second rarest color in 67. I for one like it. What color interior
Do you like color combination a lot? If so then it's a desirable Corvette in your eyes. IMCO which is worth nothing it's not the worst thing to pay a little more for a Corvette you really want because it's a color you like with options you want. After all it's not like you can order the car of your dreams new. At the end of the day you have to be satisfied with both the Corvette and the price.
