I found out after posting on eBay the frame was a 1965 .
I listed it that way .
it bothers me I built that matching number to be NCRS perfect
I could never get over that so it had to go after that .Yes it was a rust free beautiful frame still not right and never will be .
So I had a chance to move on with a cash deal how many times will that happen Buyer didn't care about frame Plus bought the car as a no hit corvette after soda blasting found out it was fixed above fenders long time ago ,You could tell I thought it was suspicious when when the screws on the headlights covers were different locations from left to right side but both were fiberglass Notice knock in frame to accept side pipes for a 65 also it was supposed to be black interior that was changed to red ,Paint was correct
I don't care what you say, that car is beautiful!

If the NCRS standard is reflection of the cars that were built in the 50's, 60's, and 70's it shouldn't be too hard to meet because the cars weren't really built that great. the big three pretty much ruled the show and their products pretty much showed it.

I feel the the folks that meet the NCRS standards are head and shoulders above what the factory standards were during those years.

The average of values from all the numbers posted in this threads is approximately $51166, so lets call it $52000.

The car I am thinking about was for sale on the forum a couple of years ago...the asking price was $75000.

I recently contacted the owner...the asking price is still $75000.

I cannot think of a 64 coupe (other than a big tank car or a nice FI car) that is worth $75,000 or more.

So, if we assume the current market value is $52000, and lets say that top dollar on it is $60,000, that is about a 15% increase over market value (if my math is correct). I would pay $60,000 for this car in a heartbeat, but can't see going much more than that.

And $75,000 is something like 44% over market value, and 25% over top dollar.

I keep running into pricing issues like this on nice cars. The seller has a lot of money in the car, and perhaps some emotional attachment that has pushed the price to where it is.

Anything is only worth what someone is willing to pay for it, and a seller can ask any price they wish. A sale only occurs when those two positions meet somewhere.
Hey look, you answered your own question.

True. Cool. Thanks.

I am off to Denver tomorrow morning to check out the car, and maybe buy it.

I figure that unless the engine falls out during the test drive, it is coming home with me.

Seriously, I have already had a professional inspector check the car, and he said it is definitely worth my efforts to see it in person. A solid upscale driver lever car.

So, unless I find something seriously wrong, I expect it to be headed to north Alabama.

But I will still do a thorough inspection, including both stop and go and highway speeds driving.

I am definitely excited about the prospects, but also perfectly willing to walk away from it if something major is wrong with it.
