If you’re using the original spacer that goes between the carburetor in the intake you should use the ones with the four holes in them 2 gaskets and a spacer.

The installation sequence is in your AIM. It's a good idea to plug the "heat slot" ports in the manifold with Welsh or NPT plugs. This should mitigate the percolation issue.
If you don't have the spacer and stainless steel heat shield, I'm sure they are available from the various Corvette parts vendors.
