The 64-65 365 and 375 HP 327 engines were equipped with a 3849346, also referred to as a 30-30 cam. The lash setting was also .030-.030".

The same 346 cam was also used in all 67-69 Camaro Z28 engines.

Through at least 1970, partial engines (short blocks) came with a camshaft installed in the block. At some point after that, the camshaft was deleted from the assembly in one or more blocks. I'm thinking service short blocks didn't have an assembly stamp code. Could be wrong. Getting old and memory is fading.
I had several buds who had the 240 HP engines in new 56 full size cars. the GM specs rate the engine at 245 HP

Yeah I know but seems most everyone else in the last 30 years likes to refer to it as 240 hp. Easier to go along than argue with the Corvette experts.

I used to have "245 HP" painted on the front fender of my '56 Bel Air. Not 240.
