67 427/435 Paint/Interior/Stripe Color Combination Question
I have a friend who has an original (all numbers matching/born date, etc) 67 Coupe 427/435 with black exterior, red stinger hood and saddle interior. He's had the car since the early 70's. He states that in all his years he has never seen another 67 427/435 with this color combination (Saddle interior with black paint and red stripe). Is there any documentation of the various paint/interior/stripe colors that were built in 67? Any of you "original" experts ever seen one with my friend's combination? Please advise and thanks in advance for your response!

Black and saddle got a white stinger.
That combination makes for a really pretty car. I have a friend here in Jersey, who has the twin to the one in the picture you posted. His black with saddle interior and white stinger 67, is a 390 horse NCRS Duntov and Bloomington Gold winner, as well as a Bloomington Special Collection car. Needless to say, I'm quite jealous of it.
The NCRS lists the stinger colors for black cars as follows:
Black Interior - Red Stinger
Red Interior - Red Stinger
Bright Blue Interior - Bright Blue Stinger
Medium Saddle Interior - White Stinger
White & Bright Blue Interior - Bright Blue Stinger
Green Interior - White Stinger
Teal Interior - Teal Interior
White & Black Interior - White Stinger

GB I know the owner and that car. It almost a twin to my dads only his is a four speed and ours is a auto. I hope the op post more info. Black on saddle is uncommon and looks stunning.

Back in 67 you could get a car in primer! So is it out of the question to pick your own color stinger as a special request? Is the tank sticker there? Otherwise I guess no way to prove it.

I don’t think that is how it worked. No where on the tank sticker tells you the hood color strip. It was a automatic thing with the chart posted above. JohnZ was stated St. Louis built production cars not a full on custom shop anything goes.

You could pick a factory exterior/interior color for your 67 or a primer only option but you had NO choice as to the color of the hood stripe. Also as stated the stripe was not listed on the hood.

I don't believe that. Having sold new cars in the 60s and 70s I can tell you that you could get any non standard color or combination you wanted if you were willing to wait for it. We had to call our factory rep and they would process it. Of course we always got a healthy deposit when doing this in case we got stuck with the car.

Generally, back then, non-standard colors were still factory colors, but from another GM line and not normally offered on the car in question. Typically, Cadillac or Buick metallic colors were used as non-standard, special order colors. Full custom, non-production colors, like candy apple red metalflake, were never offered from the factory. I have seen my fair share of GTO's and Chevelles painted by the factory in Cadillac and Buick colors.....I even had a Copper Blaze '66 GTO, which was a custom-ordered non-Pontiac color.

So you are saying that you could get a candy apple red paint job from the factory if you were willing to wait for it? That was popular color back in the day. I could see many wanting it if it was possible. Or the reason that there were none is the buyer was not willing to wait?
Omaha Orange was a popular color for a lot of utility companies where I lived and the local power company used it and they had Chevys, Ford and Dodges all with factory paint in that color going back into the 50s and into the 80s.
I once ordered a 1971 Dodge Coronet 4 door for a lady in Plum Crazy which was not available for the car. It took 6 weeks to get rather than the standard 4 weeks.
Your a car guy and I KNOW you should know this.
