This is just ONE example of why I let my subscriptions to automotive publications (HOTROD, Super Chevy, etc, etc, etc) expire several years ago. I just got sick of the incorrectness, "piggy back" articles, excessive vendor ads, etc, etc, failure of authors to proof read as well as do adequate research on their topic. Granted, a lot of the articles became way too excessive for the average backyard mechanic, but the abundance of erroneous information which continued to be perpetuated was just rediculous!

Maybe John Kraman from NBCSN is a consultant.

OK, with all that in mind, who the heck wrote the story on the cover of this forum about the #211 53 Corvette? It says the rearend was upgraded with a 55-56 rearend. WELL, which one, 55 or 56??? Knowledgeable Corvette folks know that they are two totally different rearends!

He’s the commentator from the Mecum Auction telecasts.

He’s nowhere near as bad as most of the guys who talk about Corvettes. At least he presents as a guy with general car knowledge, not a Corvette expert.

Man you'd think whoever is putting these together would ask Steve or one of the other mods here to take a look at it first.

It's not like we're talking about one website asking a favor from another--------it's the same place, CorvetteForum.com. Very easy to handle it "in house".

I'm thinking of some of the stuff put up by the forum's content editor. Granted he might not write it himself but some "Vetting" of the info prior might help.

I took an on-line, 1960's automotive quiz last week, and 'missed' one question out of 35: the 'author' of the quiz stated that a VW Beetle was called a 'Type 3'.....I got the answer wrong when I entered 'Type 1'. I've been reading mis-information written by guys who never lived their subject matter for the past 25 years or so. Tired of it. The only car mags I read now are Hemmings-based publications. I don't know everything by a long shot, but too many of these articles are written by lazy, arrogant authors who don't know what they're writing about and they do it with a cavalier attitude to boot.

This IS a Corvette only forum and the stuff like this SHOULD be proof read and corrected before the powers that be let it be printed. It is not like it is part of a discussion between members learning. This is the stuff that perpetuates the wrong info that a site like this SHOULD be correcting for people that come here for CORRECT info.

These complaints have been aired regarding these articles and links to articles in the past. The forum “editors” are a completely different entity from the moderation staff here and do not interact with us nor solicit our input. That will not change as far as I know.

The unfortunate truth is that all open posting Internet sources will contain incorrect information and people should not be under the impression that “because it’s on the Internet, it’s true.”

Corvette Forum does not review postings for accuracy, nor should that be assumed.
