Default Engine pad FI202HU

Took a photo today of the engine pad and trying to determine
what information it has. The engine is the one it was born with.
the engine pad is stamped with 5107440 the 7440 the last 4 numbers
of the VIN the other numbers/letters are FI202HU.

I202 is Dec 2nd by the VIN probably 1964

According to NCRS Spec Guide: HU = 327 350hp Holley 1x4BC Hyd Lifters A/C and 4 speed

Hope this helps.

That Vin derivative is almost certainly a S107440, not 5107440, with S for the St. Louis final assembly plant. The sixth digit of your VIN is the year indicator.

F1202HU means:
F = Flint engine assembly plant - where all small block Corvette engines of the era were built
12 = December
02 = the 2nd (your engine was assembled on 2 December 1964)
HU = L76, 350HP, with AC. A nice set up.

Your engine block's casting date should be on or before 2 December 1964.

If my memory serves me well, the engine VIN stamp 5107440 would be correct (no S). Around November of 1964 (early ’65 model year), the transmission VIN derivative started using an S followed by six digits, but the engine stamp continued with the first digit being the model year followed by the last six digits of the VIN.

Except for a few known mis-stamps, the engine VIN derivative stayed the same from '63-'67. It was the model year as the first digit, followed by the last six of the VIN

Think I should look at my numbers

Should the numbers actually match the chassis number? (last 4 digits)

Mine is a 66 427 and numbers are right hand block at front??

The last six numbers of the engine VIN derivative on the stamp pad should match the chassis and transmission if it's the "born with" engine.

Although the directive was written to do this, the workers doing the stamping had a different idea.
