Default how to move a four post lift?

Looking at a couple of used four post bendpak lifts for sale.

How the heck do you move a four post lift?

Ease of disassembly?

Fit on a rollback or a trailer???

Any success stories out there?

Now they have wheel retrofits that you can pin to the posts.

Lower the rack and it lifts the whole lift to roll it around..

Just moved one 90 miles on a flat bed trailer. 4X4 spans trailer bed and lift post set on 4X4's. Lift strapped to trailer. Load and unload with cherry picker and moving dollies purchased at Harbor Freight. Piece of cake. Guy charged me $200.

Your is set up for the casters gizmos (the horizontal tubes near the bottom of each post), obviously the seller didn't have them.

Caster "Gizmo's" didn't come into play on the move. Only used when we set it on the ground to move it inside.

The lift in the pictures looks exactly like mine....
Caster make it easy; if not possibly four wheel dollies ?
Disassembly is the last method I'd use if it could be avoided...

Default Bend pac

Sounds like you want to buy a used lift and transport it. My Bend Pac came in 8 major sections. Mine was dropped off at a depot and we picked it up and put it on a trailer. Three of us removed it from the trailer and built it in my garage. We used an engine hoist and a few car dollies to move it around. I would go on the Bend Pac website and review their assembly instructions. That will give you an idea as to take it apart. I would think you could move it in an eighteen foot or larger U-Haul truck. You will need a few friends with strong backs to move the two ramps. The ramp with the ram is really heavy. Don't forget, Bend Pac needs an air supply to unlock the safety locks. Jerry

Default four post lift

I bought my lift at the Speedway Auto Fair 5 years ago. Try to leave cable pulleys and "lighter components" attached. Two of us took it apart and put it in my Chevy Extended Van...piece by piece. The trick on putting it back together is to use a cherry picker for heavy pieces and just take your time. I used a couple of small four wheeled rollers borrowed from my wife's large flower pots. Getting mine leveled and positioned took a couple of afternoons. As mentioned, get lifting wheels. I'm 75 so you can do it too. 59 navy

Default four post lift

An additional thought. My Eagle lift runs on 120 and dims every light that I leave on. I think a higher voltage would be better. 59 navy

Default Roll Back

I used a roll back. Transported it about 10 miles, 50 bucks.

I've moved several just like in the above pic on my trailer. I raise the platforms, back trailer under it and then lower it down on the trailer. At that point I remove a cable and use a floor jack to finish raising legs and support with ratchet straps. When I get to where it's going, I reattach cable, lower legs, plug in an extension cord and use the motor to lift it up off trailer. Then I use the casters that come with most lifts to put it on wheels to move into the shop. Not really hard at all.

This^^^^. Have moved several at work, and disassembly is not the way to go unless you are a glutton for punishment.

I've disassembled my BYB four poster four times while moving across the country. Just myself and a couple cheap HF furniture dollies to set the side rails on, and then just push them into my trailer. Pretty quick and easy. Not a big deal at all.

Sounds great until you realize the uprights are taller than the garage door opening. No option but to disassemble mine when I move.....

Bendpac can recommend installers, I suppose they could un-install and move it as well.

This was the problem with the used BYB I bought. No way it would fit under the garage door opening if it was still assembled. I just wrote a check to have one of the local lift installers disassemble, transport, reassemble and adjust. Money well spent in my opinion.

I don't see why some are afraid to take one apart. The only heavy piece is the side that has the hydraulic cylinder which you need two people to lift. The rest is easy and with an impact gun, can be assembled in a couple hours at the most.

Default Moved two different lifts the same way

i used a 12 foot trailer that was 7 foot wide and had metal tubing sides that were around 20 inches tall. Backed trailer under lift, lowered the lift down and when the end cross rails sat on the trailer sides the legs would pick themselves up. Once the legs were up then I attached some ratchet straps to keep them up, then it was ready to drive down the road. The only issue is if your door opening isn’t big enough or tall enough, if they’re not then you’ll have to disassemble

I have three four post lifts. They were all taken down on site and I moved them on my car trailer. I used 3 4x4’s across the trailer and just used tie downs to hold everything in place. Assembly is pretty simple. I went on the manufacturers web site and printed the install instructions.

Disassembly is easy, yet if you can move it without taking it apart on a trailer it is much easier.

Just make sure you put the boards across the pillars to hold them parallel or it will buckle.

Here was our last move.
