I tried making a template out of some plexiglass I had but it kept breaking so I figured it would never survive shipping. Here are my measurements. If you want I would ship the old part I have for you to compare or I'll continue to try and make a better template. I just noticed I didn't locate the centers of the radii on of end of the opening. I'll get those tomorrow if needed.
That's perfect!....I will have the measurement you don't have with the vent lid that i purchased.... Once I start digging (if I start at all) I will run into that measurement.....
Anyone on this thread need anything! Please let me know if I can help!!!

Safety Car
Radii on the ends of C are about 15/16" radius. Center of the radius is 3 5/16 from the hood opening.

Melting Slicks
Years ago, I removed a filled in vent on a 57. They laid a piece of cardboard into the opening and then glassed over it. Once I removed the glass and cardboard, the original opening was pretty well preserved including the lip for the seal. You should be able to tell from underneath how it was filled in.
But I wouldn't touch the car as others have already said. It is a very cool period paint job, I like it the way it is.
