Default Spark Plugs

1966 coupe. Do you have to remove the metal guard under the top guard to be able to remove the spark plugs? Thanks

Not sure what guard you are talking about but all you have to remove is the ignition shielding, if you have a radio. The exhaust heat or metal shields can stay in place.

Thanks for replying Moxie. I was looking at the chrome shields below the exhaust manifold that are attached to brackets that look like they are attached to the exhaust manifold. Could barely feel the plugs below those shields and wondered if they have to be removed to reach the plugs.

On a lot of these cars, it is MUCH easier to put it up on a lift and access the plugs from underneath the car.

To remove the plugs only you need to remove the four pieces of shielding that’s held on by wing bolts. Watch your skin its easy to cut your self

Mechanics gloves are good insurance against all the cuts you can get from all the sharp metal edges down under there.

I think I'll round over the edges on all my shields and brackets while I've them off the engine for rebuilding....

If you have factory A/C...

...the only way to access the plugs is from underneath.
