No, not straight through and as i recall not every main. Curiouser and Curiouser? And again on the suffix "P", I can't find a p code by itself and they don't occur till years later.
Cross drilling a crankshaft would be a hole straight through each main journal. If not, it's not cross drilled. I didn't think it would be.
Some later L88 crankshafts were cross drilled but GM decided that wasn't such a hot idea after all.
I'll look in an old GM listing to see if a code "P" is shown. I don't have truck codes though. I bet John Hinckley is correct (post #2) that it's a truck code.

I had a friend once showed me a book, probably 6 or 7 inches thick, must have weighed 10 pounds. He said it had every code number chevy ever had in it. Does the lime book cover all that?
I don't know why you don't want to listen to John's answer. The engine was indeed installed in a Series 6000 truck. It was called a Taskmaster. That information comes from an August '57 TSB with full descriptions of '58 unit serial numbers.
That same motor with the same engine code can be found in half a dozen other vehicles in the same year. In just trying to get a confirmed answer on p suffixfor that year

The P engine code was used as follows:
1957-1961, 283, 160hp, 2bbl, manual trans, in a truck.
