Default Brake light switch

No brake lights on my 66' with A/C. Checked bulbs and fuse so looking at the switch. Wondering if there is a way to check the switch without removing and replacing it? The A/C vent is directly below the switch so looks like what could have been an easy job might not be so easy.

Place a test light on the two wires removed from the switch, if good the light will come on. Now place the connectors back on with the test light still attached. Press the brake pedal down, if good the test light will come on.

Thanks for the help. I did run a wire and the brake lights came on, so looking for a replacement switch.

Squirt wd40 in the plunger and push it in and out a few times. It worked for me. If not the switch is about $14.00 at O'Reillys.

I've managed to snag a spare metal brake light switch...those plastic, toy ones just don't impress me...
