Default Brake drums?

Been looking at brake drums and have noticed two different types. Does anyone know if there were two different ones on C-1 cars. I am only talking about the standard 2.5 " brake drums, not the big brake cars.

Well, for the 2" brake shoe systems, there is only one drum style that I've ever seen.

For the 2-1/2" systems, front drums have a slightly different offset (for shoe alignment) than the rears.

If you have a picture of the two styles you've seen, please post it.

The difference that i see is one type drum has a lip that goes over the back plate, ( the backplate kinda sits in a grove in the drum) the other doesn't have the extra metal and the backplate is flush with the back of the drum. and yes i meant to say the shoes are 2" the drum itself is close to 2.5".

I bet one of those is an aftermarket replacement.

Here are the 2 different styles of drums being discussed.
The one on the RIGHT was first introduced in 1951 (Bendix brakes which replaced 1950-earlier Huck brakes).
The one on the right, without the lip, is the earlier, or original style. The one on the left came along several years later (I don't know just when it came into service). PRODUCTION cars came with the damper spring installed in the groove, replacements did not.
BOTH drums are totally, 100% interchangeable. I THINK, I THINK, I THINK, that in later years, the drums with the lip were the only drums available as a service item.
These drums were used on ALL 4 wheels on 51-58 pass cars and 53-62 Vettes. In 59, full size pass cars went to a wider 3in drum (with a lip) up front, but continued to use the 2in drum on the rear through 64. So they are a pretty common drum.
And I presume everyone knows the HD brake drums were totally different, backing plates were different, shoes were different and much of the internal brake hardware was different.

These are the rear drums on my 61 from when I replaced the strut rods.....I believe they are original with the anti-rattle springs. I found a crack on the lip of one (last picture) but it shows the overlap on the backing plate.
