I want to convert my vacuum wipers to electric on my ‘54 Corvette. It seems as though there are a multitude of part #’s for 56-62 Corvettes. Is there any particular one that is a better fit then another? I have a chance to purchase a good working motor off a ‘56 Chevy, #5047906, does anyone know if that will work on my ‘54 Corvette? If not which motor should I look to purchase? Thanks.....

I recommend converting to the Raingear wiper system . I'm installing this system in my 57 right now and it is well engineered and easy to install complete with new motor , wiring harness and new wiper switch . Everything that you need except the chrome escutcheons that go outside on the cowl . They are available through all of the vendors . You can buy this complete system on ebay for as little as $499.

I’ve considered the Raingear but my wipers work good. I just need an electric boost because my V-8 doesn’t pull enough vacuum for them to work consistently. They probably wouldn’t see much use anyway.

Paragon will rebuild them and Ecker has new ones.

If your wiper system works well and has no vacuum leaks, how about adding a small electric vacuum pump? Probably cheaper and less hassle to install than a new electric wiper motor.

Just an update. I did install a electric wiper motor in my ‘54. It came out of a 56 Chevy, a little tight, but it did go in without much problem. I do have to use a switch and cable from a 57 Corvette because the 54 switch/ cable was too short. Thanks for your input...
