Hello All -
Just wondering about anyone's feedback on C2 Vette suspension .
Specifically the Ridetech 2 setup and the Borgeson P/S setup with brace bar added in .
Yes - I know it's expensive - but I have searched and searched with no
info forthcoming...
If you - or anyone you know has any insight on this setup - installed
and runnning PLEASE let me know ..!!!
I am about to pull the trigger and would so much appreciate any and all input ...
Thanks for your time !
Regards Adam Virtue

There's also the new suspension setup from Detroit Speed to consider. Its not cheap but it looks to be state of the art as far as bolt on systems go. No need to cut up an original car to use this system. It includes rack and pinion, so no need for additional parts as far as I can tell.

Thanks to all who responded !
I especially wanted to thank 69 ttop502 for the links.
Very informative.
My goals are 90% Street and a couple of track days.
I wanted to upgrade to newer technology and actually
enjoy driving the car.
I am adding Borgeson P/S and power brakes.
Also changing the ring and pinion to 3:70 / 3:90.
With this car being a 327-365 hp it's a struggle to get
first gear engaged without some room in front of you..
( I have only driven it three times - perhaps I just need some
more seat time to get used to it )
I will post pictures as things get rolling in the next 4-6 weeks.
Also plan on posting my ride experience post project.

If you only drove it three times. Clear your mind off all those add one and drive it all summer. Then figure out what you want. If you want it to perform like a new car. Then just sell it now and buy a newer Vette. Your be further ahead

This^^^^. I would recommend driving the car a bunch and getting some windshield time in the car. I run into this on the Pontiac forum a lot....new guy buys old car, starts building a resto-mod right away so that the car can be 'driven'. Without realizing that the car has been driven for the past 50 years and enjoyed just as it was designed.

I would get more windshield time - except everything about the suspension
is toast. The car has 100,000 miles on it. The engine trans paint are all done ✅
The car was in storage for 20 plus years. The suspension is all original.
I get the Pontiac forum reference - guy buys car / does rest mod stuff...
This is my first Vette - but not my first car.
I have worked in the body shop industry for years.
I have done a complete frame off on a 67 RS Camaro convertible.
With completely re done suspension at the same time driving my 68 SS 396 Camaro
With stock suspension. Night and day difference.
I have honestly pondered bone stock vs Ridetech etc...
This is the way I am going ...
I will do my best to post as much during and after info as I can..
Thanks

if you rebuild the front and back suspension with OEM rubber components, have a rebuilt stock steering box with good tires and OEM gas shocks you might be very surprised how well one of these cars will ride and handle

As I'm sure you realize tires play a major roll in handling. You can't really get a lot of tire under the stock wheel wells of a C2. I don't know what your budget is but before you spend several thousand dollars on a suspension system keep in mind you may not be able to realize the full benefit of it. Did you look at other options besides Ride Tech? Let me say I have nothing against their products. Look at the results they achieved with their 48 Hour C3 Corvette. Did you look at Vette Brakes and Products dual mono leaf set up? How about Van Steel's suspension kits? The Van Steel coil over set up Danny Popp runs on his C3 with the Borgeson Steering box. Danny Popp's success speaks for itself. You just may want to consider that set up as it has literally a proven track record and you can probably save a bit of money while you're at it. With a 7" wide wheel and possibly a 225 section width tire if the Ride Tech suspension is 10/10ths and the Van Steel set up is 9.5/10ths are you really going to be able to drive your car hard enough to see any significant difference? Just throwing some ideas out there. Good luck with what ever you decide.

Have you seen Barry Blomquist blue C2 on Forgeline wheels website ?
This is what I am trying to accomplish.
I have already been in touch with Forgeline.
Once I get the specs / mods he has done to this beast of a car
I will do my best to achieve this look ...
Fingers crossed
I REALLY like the stance and wheel tire combo he has !
Cheers Adam

That was built by the Roadster Shop and it's on a Roadster Shop frame. If you go to the Roadster Shop website there is lots of build pictures. The car was also featured in Vette Magazine so more info there if you search Hot Rod's website. I can tell you this for sure you're not fitting that tire and wheel combination on a stock frame C2.

I don't understand why you would mess up such a nice looking car.. Go buy a newer corvette, your car is beautiful just in stock trim.

Its not the looks of the car in question here, its the ride quality/ handling. I am of the belief that new OEM suspension components as well as up graded tires would make a world of difference, the op has a vision. and he wants to see it through. Im all for it, however I agree that the wheel and tire combo he is looking for will not work with a stock frame. either way I wish him well and would like to see the finished product. I have one question, he states its a struggle to engage first gear without some room in front, I have a 65 365 and im not sure what he means, yes you need to spool it up a bit but you get used to it and for me its all part of the experience.

This question is discussed often including a recent very detailed discussion about a VSP suspension. The OP should do some searching.

The fact of the matter is that the base suspension is very good...a decent ride, but all suspension and steering components must be in good condition. If you want the best handling the three top priorities, are

TIRES
SHOCKS
ALINGNMENT

These were thoroughly discussed in recent threads.

I don't understand why so many guys get a hold of an old, worn out car then think that it needs to be "re-engineered" to be decent. Duntov and his guys knew what they were doing, and the best modern tires, shocks, and "sport" alignment settings can turn a C2 into a g-machine while still maintaining a decent ride that won't rattle the fillings out of your teeth and empty your bank account.

I couldn’t have said it better. In fact, if not properly reworked, things can easily get worse.
