When you see a deal for a rare or even semi-rare part nowadays you can't sit around too long... The 250hp 63 cars were second in rarity only to the F/I cars.....people usually 'bumped up' the options to at least get a 300hp car. So the WCFB 3501S in this kind of shape are hard to spot now. A $50 Daytona carb rebuild kit and some parts scrounging and this will an NCRS level, correct carb for my car.
Agree 100%. You must be thrilled to be adding that carb to your car.
I just bought a Holley 3884505 List-3367 on ebay 2 days ago that super close pics of the screw slots prove the sellers claim it has never ever been apart. I have traded parts with this guy before and his descriptions are alway right on. I am psyched to get my hands on it and bring it back to life.

Daytona Parts rebuild kit arrived and carb is now gussied up and all issues corrected, new parts installed, off-car adjustments performed and good-to-go. I'll swap it onto the 63 this weekend if I can get a few hours...

Popped it on the car this pm bone dry and engine spun for 3-4 seconds and took off....adjusted idle speed, choke, and, mixture in the garage and will get it out on the road tomorrow and see how she does.

I will have to breakdown the non-numbers matching WCFB that came off the car and see why it was 'dropping shots' at curb idle....it was on the car mostly just sitting unused for the 18 months the car was being repaired...

Speaking of WCFB's what do you think this carb is worth. Numbers on bowls are 8-1672 and 1451.

Sure runs nice on a 300 HP car.

I picked up the one discussed herein in better shape for under $250. A more typical price for a CORRECTLY restored 63 carb I would say between $380 and $500. There are some nuts that ask $795 on eBay though. But, as I say, I'd either have to know the rebuilder or have gone through the carbs myself. I have two other 63 scrap carbs in the boneyard and they have metering rods and jets from God knows what, not 63 pieced for sure.

Those numbers are correct for 63 250hp. A 300hp would do better with the correct AFB.

Correction, Frank, if you'll allow it. You picked one that "appeared" to be in better shape for under $250.

I agree with the "nuts" comment, however.

True,
When bidding on cheap carbs on eBay its like being in a single's bar after midnight:
"The odds are good, but the goods are odd!"
