'66 Tie rod location with power steering
Finally a day nice enough to take the '66 out! In late December I added a Borgeson Power Steering set-up and yesterday was the first day I could try it out. Really happy with it!
I have a date at the alignment shop for May first, I found specs here so I guess I'm ok on that but my question is should I move the outer tie rod ends to the front most location at the spindle to quicken up the steering?
Does it make a noticeable difference? Car won't get skitterish [word?] will it? Thanks for your advice! Jim

Jim,
The factory installed power steering used the front holes on the spindle. I don't know why there would be any difference with the Borgeson, but there may be. Others who have installed the system will surely respond.

It will turn farther and have a smaller circle with the forward holes.

No, the steering will not get skittish doing it that way.

Absolutely yes, move to the fast ratio holes!
I have the Borgeson conversion on my 67, set up in that way, and it is great - just nicely responsive, not skittish at all.
Make sure your alignment includes increasing the caster as much as possible with the stock A arms (if that is what you have). Borgeson recommends 4* positive, but I was able to get a max of 3*+ which seems to be all there is unless you switch to aftermarket offset A arms.
No worries though - mine is great. It totally transforms the car, makes it steer like a modern one!
