Default Sidepipes!

My 66 has to have knockoffs & sidepipes...
bought the knockoffs and now....
bought a set of used sidepipe covers right here on this site
im going to try to restore them to like new
question is
is there a consensus here on the best place to buy a set of pipes, install kit & hardware, side mouldings and solid rear valence panel?
wondering what vendors you guys prefer
thanks, Brian

Hi Brian,

I purchased the ultra-quiet version from Paragon.

https://www.paragoncorvette.com/p-36...-pipe-kit.aspx

I am happy with the quality and the fit. I love the way it sounds at idle and it is not too loud on the freeway, even after I replaced the rear end gears from 3:08 to 4:11!

I agree with your desire for sidepipes. I love them. It all depends on what engine you have. If it's a base engine, probably any of the aftermarket replacements will be fine. If it's a high performance small block or any big block, you may want to look at having a custom set made using Classic Chambered exhaust. They have a full 2 1/2" flow path vs. the 1 1/2" OEM pipes that rob massive horsepower. I cut open the OEM pipes and you can see why they are so restrictive. The Classic Chambered flow over twice as much CFM and have a deeper rumble than OEM but are a bit louder.

OEM sidepipe cut open-

You might also want to check with Allen's. They have both aluminized steel and stainless steel systems.

They've also started offering “SUPER QUIET SIDE PIPES”, apparently there was a demand for it. Also in aluminized and stainless steel.

Good luck... GUSTO

Another source that I like is Sweet Thunder. Like Allens, they have OEM style as well as aluminized and SS and also various core sizes to more HP.

Check them both out.

I’m thinking of trying to locate a set of 2.5” manifolds to replace the 2” ones as well

You must have a small block. If you don't care about looking stock and want to increase performance, you may want to check out Hedman Hedders. They make a set that are angled out for direct hook-up to sidepipes. #68286 for ceramic coated and #68280 for uncoated.

You might want to check these folks out to get the most bang for your buck with 2 1/2" manifolds...
