Default AC help

My supposedly rebuilt A6 compressor is cycling on and off every couple of seconds. It looks like the freon may be slightly overfilled. When travelling at 50 mph hour speed, the air looses its coolness. In the neighborhood it is cool. What concerns me is overworking the clutch on the AC compressor. It has squeeled a couple of times over past couple of drives. I know this looks bad, but I hate to lose the original compressor, but it really drags the engine down and heats up the engine. If I change it will be to a proten, but I want to avoid if possible. Is there a way to get rid of some freon from the compressor.? Thanks for any help you can give me.

Is your system stock, with a POA or STV valve, or did you convert it to a clutch cycling system with an orifice tube?
What makes you think the system is overfilled? Did you check the system with gauges?

A6 OEM rebuilt compressor. I checked the air gap on the clutch and that wasn't the problem Finally, I had some refrigerant removed and the problems are solved. It was one of those store bought cans of 34 that got me in trouble. When I hooked the gauge to the low side it said I was low on refrigerant. Actually it wasn't and adding refrig caused the high side to have excess pressure. thanks for your reply
