Probably the best color for the '57.

To show you that I am an equal opportunity enthusiast, here is a C1 that the '58 crowd will love. Good friend Rich Mason owned this one. Big Brake/Halibrand FI car with the Dagmar headlight covers. Enjoy this one.

That black one.... you are right, it IS the best looking color. But I am not repainting mine. I'd rather drive it.

Red is also hard to beat.

That's pretty stunning. The solver/blue paint with silver coves works really nicely with the halibrands. And those Dagmars really accentuate the curves on the nose. Beautiful car!

1957 - best lines, many firsts, lighter, no extra headlights...

Especially with those red wheels. That '56 is one of a kind.

I love the 1958 - the first with quad headlights, cool hood louvers, chrome trunk spears, round tail, chrome on the top of the fenders, designed by Harley Earle

I have black, but prefer red on a 62. It just shows the sculpting of the body and coves to a greater advantage IMHO. Not Roman or Honduras red, but something brighter and more red. I've seen some real beauties out there.

There are no bad solid axle Corvettes.

But like some of the others, I'm partial to the '56-'57s.

Going by some of the responses here, I got lucky finding a 1960 with a 327!
(I suppose I really was lucky because at that time I could never afford a C1 with the original motor, and it ended up having no major problems for the 30 years I've had it)

Me too! Both of my 57's were Venetian Red.
