Default C1 Restro-Mod Frames?

I'd love to hear from anyone using a aftermarket frame on your C1... what suspension does it have and what's the pro's and con's to the your set-up.

I have a 58 that I plan to bring up to snuff, but want to make it a more drivable classic. :-)

Billy Dawson (Corvette Corrections) makes a nice frame with any upgrades you could ever want up to a complete roller with an LS-x based drive train. My pal Mike Coletta has made I don't know how many C1 restomods based on the platform.

Jeff Beck the rock guitarist owns a 58 riding on a CC frame IIRC...done by Mike...

Default Meyer

I used a Meyer front end and kept stock frame. Easy install and adds R&P disc bks and coil over with easy adjustable ride height. Still deciding what to do out back.

I have one of Billy Dawson's frames with C4 front and rear suspension on my '59 and would not hesitate to buy another. The frame is well designed, strong, and has beautiful welds. One nice feature is the open center section with plenty of room for a large transmission (I have a 4L80E) and space to accommodate almost any exhaust system. My exhaust system has equal length 2" primaries, 4" collector, and 3" exhaust pipes.

Billy’s customer support is beyond the moon.
his frames require almost no booy modifications (small cuts to front inner fenders to clear a arms, and spare tire mod to allow room for rear pig).

First pic is body mounted on Billy's frame/chassis before the engine install...and second pic is the beginning of the project.
The Correction Correction frame is a class act in every way...my favorite choice for sure. Unbeatable customer support..on top of that Billy Dawson is an extraordinary guy.

I guess you could add me to the Corvette Corrections chassis. I made my own copy of one from looking at C Bernhardts a million times as well as other members here and one allowing me to take measurements from his, thanks yet again Ricky Ott, but if you are going to drop the bucks and they are unlimited an Art Morrison is also a super nice piece.

I really like the Corvette Correction Chassis. They look strong, and minimal at the same time.

Was just out in the garage looking over my ‘67 resto. I used a Corvette Corrections Chassis and could not be happier. Car drives like it is on rails and looks pretty cool too. Billy is one super guy to do business with. He returns calls and always has an answer. I had two issues (1) power steering rack leaked and (2) altinator quit. Both items replaced, labor and parts no problem. Mike Coletta my builder has used CCC for years and always has great results. Good Luck with your decision.

If you live only about 100 miles from Carlisle, you should drive down there (Aug.23-25) and look at the various frames that are available. I will be parked (Fawn Beige '62 with white hardtop) in the SACC section, right next to Gate 3. If you look me up I will take you over and introduce you to Billy Dawson.

Since one of my must haves on my 57 was that it had to be low and my frame was in perfect condition, l used a Fatman front suspension with air bags and a Jim Meyers four link coil over rear suspension. The car has 9 in rear wheels and 7 inch front both inside the fenders so it can be lowered, rack and pinion, and Wilwood 12 in disk front and rear..
Built in 2009 and has 15 K miles still drives and ride great and will corner on a dime.
if you have a good frame. Ot a bad way to go..

Default Update... found a frame!

An update on my end. I found a slightly used Corvette Concepts frame with a C4 frontend and rear, with power steering and 4 wheel disk for under $8K. The frame was installed on a 57 body but then sold to a restoration shop who wanted the body to be installed on a Art Morrison frame they already bought for a project they are working on... so they didn't need the frame I'm buying. I think I lucked out. Now to decide what motor and tranny to go with. :-)

Thanks! I will be at the show.... I try and go every year. However, I just bought a slightly used Corvette Concepts frame with a C4 front and rear set up for less than 1/2 price. Someone building a car for a Barrett Jackson auction already had their frame and didn't need the one I'm buying. Evidently the body was installed on the frame, but never completed before sold to the shop I'm buying it from. So I think I got lucky. I'll swing by at the show. :-)

I just finished a 62 on a Corvette Correction chassis last week. I went the 'rolling chassis' route rather than just the bare frame and used a 5.3LS with 4L60 trans.. He uses C4 front & rear suspension. It has only 80 miles on it now --- just a few 'shakdown runs'. (So far nothing has leaked, smoked, or fallen off!) A noted above, just a little trimming is required for the "A" arms, spare tire compartment, and steering column location. Bill will give you templates of what & where to cut when you get the frame, so no guesswork. I've had the car since 1975 and it has been like driving a totally different car. I'd definitely reccommend Corvette Correction.

My silver Corvette Correction chassis is on display with Corvette Correction this coming weekend at the Bowling Green Tri Five Nationals and will also be at Corvettes at Carlisle. Just 10 minutes of talking with Billy at Corvettes at Carlisle last year and I knew he had an amazing product.
