Default C1 power steering conversion

I have a 57 with Jim Myers suspension. It has a manual rack, and I want to install a power rack. My concern is mounting the power steering pump. I have the original front engine mount, and don't know weather the pump will clear. If the pump is mounted low, below the mount will it be difficult to access and fill the reservoir. I would appreciate any advice on how to proceed.
Thanks,
Pat

Search the forum for electric power steering conversions for C1s, which seem to work fine.

I believe that the electric power steering systems are used with stock steering components. I already have a manual rack and pinion installed. I just need to mount the steering pump. and install the t-bird power rack.

Thanks,
Pat

GM metric pump under the stock motor mount. You will need a 2 GPM reduced flow for the GM pump to match a Ford
power steering unit.

The Steeroids conversion that I used in my 57 uses a C5 corvette power steering pump that goes on the block under the drivers side engine mount and has a remote reservoir. It came with everything including the hoses and brackets . This is a great kit , easy to install and it works great . Feels like driving a later model car .

I agree, the 'canned ham' GM pump will overpower the ford rack and make the steering too sensitive/twitchy; needs to be dumbed down and there are valves to do that. not sure of what is necessary with other pumps
