Even though I'm a retired USAF SMSgt, I second that!

I celebrated the Marine Corps Birthday by touring the USS Newport News, a nuclear sub. A friend in our corvette club is a retired Navy Captain who set this up. What an experience to see from bow to stern all the systems in such a small space. I know the sailors in the submarine service make more money but they truly deserve it. Can you imagine living in your kitchen and den for 6 months at a time without getting outside. I salute them for all they do.

A friend of mine sent this,

My friend who sent this was a Marine and my son-in-law is currently serving in the Marine Corps. I was involved with the cushier of the three branches.

Mark, as a retired Naval officer and former submariner, I would consider the USS Newport News (SSN 750) to be a wholly luxurious ride, in that many of us older guys rode smaller, less "opulent" boats. While as a Nuke, I would not compare my rides to the older deisel boats, I did tours on the Sturgeon-class boats USS Guitarro (SSN 665), USS Pintado (SSN 672), and USS Sea Devil (SSN 664), a tad more 'rudimentary' than 688 class boats. We did operate with SEALs, but not yet with Marines.

But it that said, Semper Fi to our Marine brothers!! This includes my 91 year old 1st Marine Division Father in law who still works out every day.
