radial tires
I'm putting new tires and wheels on my 1966 convertible driver. My plan is American Racing torq thrust 15x6 with diamondback red line 215 70 R15 tires. But the 70 aspect ratio limits the choice of higher performance tires. Has anyone tried 235 65 R15 tires? They are the correct 27 inch diameter but I'm afraid they may be too wide and cause interference. Also, these tires may require 15x7 wheels, which is OK since I haven't purchased them yet. Any suggestions?

If you like good handling like I do, beware of putting a wide tire on a narrow rim. A 6 inch rim is only 152 mm wide; a 7 inch is 178 mm. In my opinion if the tire section is more than 50 mm larger than the rim width, handling will suffer.
case in point... I had a set of 215-70-15s on 7” rims - they handled quite well. But when I put them on some 6” rims, cornering became sloppy. YMMV

Tire options for stock C2's are limited hence the 70's proliferation of modified wheel openings. If you search this forum you will find a wealth of information and opinion.
