I am helping my friend disassemble his doors and getting it ready for paint. Both doors have this sheet metal screw in the vent window frame.
I do not believe that is correct. Also it looks like it isn't doing anything.
Anyone have a picture of the proper hardware and a picture of it installed?

That is the correct, original screw used by Chevrolet. The broken fiberglass around it is also commonly seen. I've restored several that have that exact screw and damage. The only purpose I can think of for that screw is to secure the inner panel to the metal frame. I have pics. of similar installations if you need them.
