The heck with the paint on the headlight buckets, and the 4 wheel drive stance, what's going on with the tail lights?????
The tail lamps are set in way to far. I suspect that the car had 6 tail lamps at one time, and someone mistakenly filled the stock outer lamp openings, instead of the added inner ones. The seller said he has a new tail lamp panel, and there's evidence of it previously having a third tail lamp.
The driver's door armrest looks like it's mounted on an angle too?
Nice catch, Glen, I never even looked at the tail lights. That is hard to even believe.
I did see the driver's side armrest, though. Not sure why they wouldn't have it mounted correctly.
I'm no expert.. so if they were 10594 Coupes and 10919 Convertibles like the guy stated, would the coupes be numbered 1-10594 and the convertibles 1-10919? or would GM have numbered the bodies 1-21513?
Boy, you guys just don't believe anything. This car obviously has been owned by a yeti; all the signs are there for you to see: the extra height to compensate for his long legs, the crooked armrest so he could easily scratch his package, the interior color matches his tawny fur. The power steering was added for his tiny mixed- species girlfriend, a Walmart cashier...
On a serious note, anyone know what "898E" stood for on a very late car. I know that early in production it meant "with A/C and no radio" but it was changed when A/C actually started being put cars. It might have meant "AM" radio, or "back-up lights", I've no clue, maybe John can chime in here...

The "Trim Tag Book" says the "E" ECL wasn't used after 2/22/63; after that, coupes with Saddle Leather interiors (898) had a "G", "Q", or "S" ECL.

I thought it looked weird, too, and wrote it off to having backup lamps. Then I looked at other SWC's, and it's super obvious: none of the tail lights are in the stock position. They are too far inboard, as a pair, by a good 2-3 inches per side. The whole panel would have to be glassed in and new, correctly placed holes would have to be cut. A lot of work for an expensive car, IMO....it just looks wrong.
Passingly strange how one can look at a car (even if he owns the same model) and know something is amiss but can't quite identify what....then some sharp-eyed person calls it out and suddenly its as glaring as a turd in a punch bowl....
