Wingnuts

But if you don't know the story of my car - My dad bought it new in Dec 1960. When he passed in 2011, I became the 2nd owner.
So next week I'l be displaying the car at Good Guys Del Mar Nationals, along with 2500 other cars!
My local club is being featured, so we get a section in the indoor show.
Cool, but that means the car must remain parked in place for all 3 days of the show.
They have security at night, but since I won't be there for some blocks of time during the day, I thought I should do some simple "swap outs" of original stuff.. At least the stuff that would be easy for someone unscrupulous to unscrew in a flash and walk away with unnoticed.
My cig lighter is already a repop (saved the heavily used original though)
So I went to Home Depot and bought some generic bolts/washers for the hardtop hold-downs..
And I bought a 6 pack of 1/4-20 wingnuts for $1.29
While I think it's likely, I'm not really sure if my wingnut is original. How do you tell an original wingnut??
Good luck. I don't think you will get ripped off in a secure environment. BUT!!!!!!

Original gas cap has been swapped out too.. Good thought Frank.

Back then, the photos were hosted off-site, and those sites are no longer there.
A couple of ebay sellers (asking about $100) do show that mine (on the left above) looks to be original..
Looks like the C2 went to a different style wingnut... one with hallow wings.
We must have some wingnut gurus still around?

It's just my curiosity about the wing nuts.....

I ask why and he said unfortunately, it only takes one and your correct wing nut is missing!
I now keep a reproduction wing nut, gas cap, oil filler cap, and radiator cap on my 63 except when being judged.
