was going to restore my 9 leaf spring but since it had very little/no curvature at ride height and and more rust and pitting than i thought once i got it apart i'm thinking of just replacing it. after reading as many leaf spring threads as i could the consensus seems to be that the eaton spring is the way to go. they have a 9 leaf with the stock rate and 3 straight and 6 curved leafs like the oem spring. the rap here on the forum seems to be that this spring is to soft. that wouldn't bother me as long as the ride height is maintained. this spring is also offered in 1-2" higher and lower. is there any reason not to get the 1" higher spring and and adjust the ride height at the end links/mounts as necessary? fwiw, this is for a 67 coupe w/ sb.

At curb weight, normal ride height the spring should be pretty close to flat. Pitting is one thing, cratering another. Post some photos.
this morning i had at them with an angle grinder with 50 grit and then spent some time with the sand blast cabinet. they're not as bad as first seemed. the only place that's concerning is where the ends of an upper leaf contact a lower leaf. i think the rest is ok. i've decided to reuse them for now and see how it goes. unfortunately, i don't
have a pic of the spring in place at ride height.
I was referring to photos of the spring with typical and worst corrosion. Paint the leaves with a rust preventative coating, assemble with new liners, and install with new spring link cushions. The cushions are still available from GM and are much superior to aftermarket, which rapidly crack and deteriorate.
duke, sorry, by the time i saw your last post i had a coat of primer on them. i'll have to pull all this apart
again in the not to distant future anyhow. in the mean time i can decide if i like them the way they are
or if i need to replace them. thanks again.
