The dash has a groove that matches up with a groove in the switch (see photo) but there has to be some piece that goes in there, to lock it all in place. I can fashion a wedge to put in there, but wanted to know what I'm missing, before I go to my plan B. Is there a part missing? I presume that I have the correct switch in there, that came with the car, albeit my car came partially assembled and this switch was in a box of parts.

Reason: typos
One other thing that I have noticed, especially when I look at the photo. There is a piece of steel inside one of the prongs, that you can see just above my thumb in the photo. Is that the key that is supposed to extend forward and go into the groove on the dash, and is mine broken off? I can't figure out why else that metal insert is there.
put the ignition switch in from the back with the tumbler installed
put thru the dash glass
put the ring on it - tighten gently
Thanks Chris, I have done that but it still will not prevent the switch from turning when the key is turned, especially over time. I believe that that is the purpose of the groove in the fiberglass, to allow something to go in there, that locks the switch in place to prevent it from spinning. The bezel holds it in place, but there must be a reason for that groove in the fiberglass, which groove also exists for the wipers and lights as well. Are you saying that you've never seen anything on any of your cars, in that groove? Thanks.
